ok so I purchased a yamabuggy 250 to play around in and Im totally not happy with it... Im ready to swap engines or whatever I can do. The worst part of the is machine is that you cant shift the trans on the fly.
I had no idea that they would even make a machine like this. What can I do ? What motor can I use? anything lager that I could shift on the fly would be great... any info would be great. |

If it is a running car then you might sell it and move to the next vehicle. Sometimes it's best to cut your losses rather than compound them further.
BTW, welcome to MBN. Tell us about yourself and what you can afford to do. Some of us are builders, some learning to build, some of us have to buy a running car. We will help any way we can. |

The yama us to be made by tj powersports. Then things fell apart and they dropped it. Now I believe it's a xatv. Parts have always been trouble. Alot of guy's like the 400 which you can shift. You might have a cf moto with a hilo tranny. If your not handy, I would get rid of it. Unless they've fixed the parts supply situation.

thanks for the replys gentlemen...I use to buid race 4 wheelers so I oi have a little bit of mechanical ability. If I could upgrade to the 400cc engine which I could shift then Id be happy... cuz then I could just mod the thing to make it more nimble. I cant beleieve they'd make a transmission like this. This kart was a present for my lady but at the same time I want to drive it too. Do you guys know where I caould get a 400 cc engine for the machine? I know they use the big bear yamaha motor, but I need to know where to purchase. thanks again guys!

I don't.
I remember Samd Sports and the Yamabuggy Redline comparo. If I remember right the Redline won. Correct me if wrong. Guessing here! Unlike auto manufacturers that are required by law to build a certain amount of spare parts, maybe not true with these specialized vehicles. I can see where parts will be hard to find. I expect you will be required to either find parts or make your own. Not good considering it was a turnkey vehicle but not so different than most of us. |
