Buggyinnovations Mini buggy plans parts and kit sets

Buggy Innovations claims a weight of 530 pounds with wheels and tires if you build it to THIER specs. See below link. Then you add motor weight and rider of course.

Specifications

Good call on the Rhino spindles. Side by sides are tanks for weight for the most part and what I have seen some do in them is crazy. Just have to shop around (evilbay perhaps?) for a set.

Oh Yeah IF I was to go with Protodies plans I would just build them to suit his setup or have him do it. Maybe not the cheapest but you would KNOW they were dead on right.

hmm ya I think I see what you are saying about the protodie stuff, though at my age you really can't foot that kinda bill, wish I could though, cause its top notch. ah 530, how did I not see that

so a, about what does a motor weight with all the stuff it needs?

Guessing a couple hundred on the typical bike motor but its just a guess. I am sure you could look up a particualt motors spec weight. Sled motor might be a bit less due to no tranny and most are two smokes. I have lifted twin cylinder 600cc sled motors by myself that I guess had to be under 100 pounds. It was not tough to lift and carry for a bit.

ya just tried to look up an engine weight but didn't find anything, though did see that a newer gsxr 1000 dry was about 380 for the whole bike, so a wet engine maybe 275 -300 so ya about 1000lb with me in it, either way do you think the $4500 is a doable price to end up with a descent end product?

Depends on how fancey you make it and how much you actually do yourself.

I have seen guys make buggies they claim to have under $1500.00 in aside from there time. So it is doable for your projected cost.

One of the simpler karts (To me) is the Desert Karts Panther. With a few substitutions in the drivetrain for already existing parts (rear axle stubs for example) it seems to be a good cost effective build.

Having a small lathe or someone who does who will make you bearing carriers for cheap will be a HUGE saver. Unless you figure out a way around that. I have seen a lot of guys use flanged bearings and get away with it with great sucess. You can find them on evilbay cheap at times for good brand names.

Same for bending. There are some reasonable benders for cheap. Or you can have a local shop bend it for you for cheap.

In another thread just tonight on here a person was saying that they are now selling a little stand alone hand pumped bender for $250.00 with one die on evilbay. Be great for the price.

There is a guy here at the Silver Lake sand dunes in Michigan who is using the ENTIRE front end off a Suzuki Quadzilla 500 racer. He copied the quads frame mounts and angles on his buggy frame and bolted the front end up. Gave hime a nice decent travel front end with brakes. For a fair price.

Just have to get some paper and start taking notes on how you wanna do it. it IS possible. Especially for a simple good fun kart.

mini prerunner

Check out Bikelomens first post. Last Pic. Thats a bender I have seen a few get and seem to like especially for the price.

I would probabaly get it if I did not have a fortune in my Pro Tools 105 at this time.

I also have that ebay bender. 1",1.5" and 1.75" die with bender shipped to my house for just a little over $400. Works good. I finished this cage a few weeks ago with it.
