Yes but I love the way it smells at the motorcross track. It almost makes your nipples hard!

Lol, you guys are lucky to just have to chat about it on here. I work at a Toyota dealership and have had to take test drives with customers all the time who will argue this with you till you give up and walk away. I am only 21 and have been master tech for 3 years and still I get the old question of how long you worked here and how old are you. Yet farmer brown will not understand why his 5.7 tundra pings occasionally while pulling a trailer up hill on low octane fuel. By the way Toyota only specks 87 octane yet they are getting 381hp out of a 5.7L?????

Anyways it mainly depends on static and dynamic compression; any thing below around 10:1 will work on 87 but 110 is not really needed till over 12:1. However, it gets quite complicate if you talk about aluminum heads vs. cast iron, cam timing, and fuel trims or jets. My professional advise is stick to bigger gas stations that move a lot of fuel to avoid bad gas and just use what is specked in the owners manual. Only change octane if you have a legitimate reason to; pinging (detonation).

Gentlemen, we have a winner!

(unfortunately) Both of my automobiles require 92-94 octane fuel. If I'm traveling and not able to find a station that has high volume (like a country store) I'll put the lower octane stuff in. I'd rather have fresh(er) lower octane fuel than old higher octane stuff.

As long as I stay off the fun pedal (uh, yea. Like that happens a lot. ), running the lower octane fuel doesn't affect my highway cruising.

When I have run the lower octane stuff and tried to have a little "spirited" driving, both cars do complain. The turbo charged car is more finicky about the octane level than the normally aspirated one.
