This is so far off the minibuggy topic that I am posting in the liter box. For no other reason, that it might just be met with stone cold silence.
OK, I like this board, like that folks have opinions, and like that folks will help total strangers, like a lot of this board. I know for most of us this is a diversion from the real world. I also know that most folks could use more business in their real world jobs. Now, some of us have no ability to assist as we are students, or retired, or work for a company that is simply too vast. But I was curious if anybody was up to any professional networking – yea sure, merits, competitiveness, quality, etc.. I am not for a moment suggesting that any of that be forsaken. I am suggesting perhaps a “mini buggy” introduction to maybe get a foot in the door? At least be heard? I know a long while back, Yoshi asked what everybody does, this is an idea to take it a bit further. If anybody is game, maybe just an idea of what good services your company uses / needs and what good services you all offer and where that service / good is at? |

I run an offroad transaxle shop in Phoenix. We specialize in Mendeola and Albins transaxles for big cars mostly. Also all the VW models. We do carry a full line of axles and c-v s ,boots and related parts. I picked up a Busa motor in a trade deal and have been searching this sight for ideas. Definitely a lot of good info. I'm going to start with a small single seater for my kids. Looking for a Polaris 330. After I have a little practice I will attempt a two seater for the busa.

The company I work for is a lighting manufaturer based in Salt Lake City. We only build to order, and are typically about 10-12 weeks out. We do have an extensive catalog of very high end lighting and furniture designs, but about half of our business is custom work. Besides being able to modify catalog products, we also offer complete custom services. We can even have a designer come to your project, and specifically design fixtures to suit your individual needs. With 74 employees, we can handle large hospitality projects, as well as small residental projects. I am the product manager, which is just a fancy way of saying my focus is on R&D. I turn hand sketches from designers into CAD drawings, and then get to build about half of the prototype fixtures. We bought a new building this year and will be in it by Jan 1. It is a 50,000 sq. ft. facility, with in house powder coating. The PC is a new process for us and we have been working on some pretty unique finishes. I am stoked because the oven at the new shop is 10'x 20', (plenty big for the shotgun when I get there). PM for more info.
I also have a small fab shop and gallery, (3000 sq. ft. shared with 2 other guys), but I try to only take on enough to keep the rent paid, and spend the rest of my time on my own projects. My own stuff is one off sculptures, lamps and furniture, primarily in steel, wood and glass. I use recycled materials in every piece, and I do not take orders. I build what I want. I usually have about 100 (or a million) projects going at all times which is why I am slacking on the buggy (and because I am saving $loot$ for that RPM fnr and other parts). Cheerios |
