On a semi serious note, if the demo is 60K, what in the world does the one still in the plastic cost?

I love the "I can build that cheaper" attitude people have.

Tell you what, open up your own shop, where your sole source of income is Dependant on you building that same rail "cheaper", factoring in a $25 an hour employee working 40-60 hours a week who does nothing but weld and fabricate aluminum, you do the rest, an $80 an hour machinist building a ton of custom parts you designed, the fact that you will inevitably have slow months where you have no income, make sure you get it right the first time, you can't have thousands in wasted tubing, aluminum work, plasma cut parts, wiring, gas in trips to the hardware store, etc....

My base model is under 32k, the same as the king car, only I have a $3,800 reverse diff unit assembly that is standard, king doesn't, so my price is actually less than his if he had the reverse diff, and my rail is at least 25 percent bigger. Start piling up options and you'll be paying a lot more while the builder really isn't making that much more. I don't make anything on some of the options after I factor in the labor, nuts and bolts, wiring, etc.. to add those options.

So, if you think you can build and sell this rail for $60k, and you have to quit your job and make enough off the sale to pay your bills for the 8 or 10 months it takes you to build it (if your lucky enough to build it that fast since you don't have any jigs, just pictures of my rail, and no one that has bought a roller from me has completed it in 8 months) then go for it. I can build one in about 3 or 4 months now, but I have all the jigs built and all the equipment, as well as very details blue prints that make everything go like clockwork, but it took 4 years and I don't know how many thousands of dollars to get to that point.

I'm not getting rich building these things, 4 years and I still haven't made enough money to even build myself a rail. I make enough to pay my bills and do what I enjoy, not enough for people to say i'm livin large off my profit...........

Last time I checked, most people weren't building busa rails this size out of their garage, and I guess lots of motor work, a brand new zero mile busa motor, LED and hid lights, and power steering, and a ton of other custom stuff is a lot cheaper for people building out of their garage without dealer buy in as well..

Willing buyer, willing seller, that will determine the price. We don’t need to torpedo the efforts.

I say more power to you and good luck on the sale. Hope you and Yoshi can always sell them at a profit so we can rely on Sinster / Federal input for a long time.

Maybe they can. But it won’t be “better.” (IMO)

That is a beautiful car and the workmanship is evident. Good luck on the sale.

I won't argue yoshi's point because he is right. In my line of work I've seen MANY young wannabe carpenters(buggy builders) think all they have to do is put on a carpenters belt(buy a welder) and they can then do work cheaper than anyone else and make more money. It doesn't work that way. Period. THe successful ones are those that KNOW the cost of doing business and then being more efficient at building. There's not a single one of the "I can do it cheaper" carpenter(buggy builder) that thinks that way that is able to survive. Now with that said 60K is a steep price for a mid size busa buggy. But as I said there's always a rich boy. Nothing wrong with pursuing that market.

Guessing is like assuming. I'll have roughly that in the prototypes. That is not a selling price. Prototypes are always much more expensive. And yes it is not intended for the backyard cheapo low HP builder.

And are you going to offer the new 2008-up busa motor in your next build?

Buy the bike, part it out!
