Default how do you title a buggy

I am looking at buying a buggy from rowycoracing which does not have a title. I ride in state parks and need to pay sales tax and be legal to get my stickers. Does anyone know the best way to go about titling a buggy?

Get the Queen to step up to the front of the car while holding a sword.
Have her tap it on each front wheel while stating "I pronounce you The Duke Of Dirt" and Tada! Your car now has a title!

Actually, you'll need to go to the DMV and ask them. Many times there's a form for home built buggies/vehicles that assigns an identification number to the vehicle.

When I got the Briggs cars titled in AZ, I had to take the cars to the DMV, have the little guy behind the counter come out, check the cars out, find any sort of serial number (pulled the engine numbers in my case), then assign a number to the car. I had to have a bill of sale made for the cars (fortunately I know someone in AZ that was able to help me out here...)

Since Tim built the car I'd have him draw up a very detailed bill of sale, stating date of build completion, engine's serial number, if possible what it weighs and the fact that it's a home built ride.

If Tim's willing, have him try to get a notarized "MSO" - Manufacturer's Statement of Origin - he'll probably have to make it up. "Hi, my name's Tim and I built this here dune buggy thingy." The more paperwork you can come up with showing it's origins, the better.

It varies from state to state. In Ohio we have to sign a document stating that the car/bike will meet certain criteria

Exactly what that is, I don't know - did this on a dirt bike a while back "Here, sign this stating that it meets all requirements for road worthiness." But since that was for street legalization purposes, it was probably more comprehensive that it would be for just an off road or OHV type of title/plate.

In California we title as a special construction and the DMV assigns a number and puts a little tag on the frame.

Thanks guys. I will talk to Tim and DMV. I think that will be easier than getting the Quenn to take time out for me.

You shouldn't need a title from Tim, He can sell with a bill of sale, add non titled vehicle to the receipt, if mo requires a title they should be able to issue you one...
