Until they figure out how to incorporate a cv drive, I'd say that they are junk. Just my opinion of course. I will say that the plans are well laid out though. His cad abilities are great, but his actual design.... Just so so.

I'll agree w/Rick on this one. CAD work is great, but the design, as a whole, looks to be very basic and elementary. Mind you, this comes from an outsider's point of view from just looking at the plans on the internet.

It would appear that the suspension is very basic and does not have any sort of camber/caster changes built in but I could be very wrong about that too.

It would be interesting to see what the designer says about the suspension setup and what it does when cycled.

A CVT setup in that machine would be a much better option too - once again, from a very CVT biased source... (I hate shifting an off road vehicle - too much other stuff to worry about)

What would you do diffrently? And why. Thinking of ordering he's plans and starting on this project. I can see a couple of things I would change.

I'd look at the front geometry and see what would be involved in making it work well - it's probably a decent base to start with and mods would probably be quite easy to work in as you build it.

I don't care for the rear upper shock mounts - weak design.

Transmission - If you stick to the plans and use a bike engine, then it should be pretty straight forward. You can probably add reverse via a starter and ring gear setup like Yoshi's been using (with great results).

Or you could try a sled engine (shorter in length, as they have no tranny on the back of the engine) and then something like an RPM F-N-R box with a CVT setup. There should be enough room with a bit of creativity.

It may very well be a sound base vehicle to start with. I think there are more than a few members here that have vehicles that started from plans and now work much better than they would have if the had stuck to the plans.

That is the beauty of fabrication!

Rick do you sell the PIRCV rear end setup? Or is that just Doug Heim?

So, K-fab how would you change the shock mount?
