I'd lean the shock forward putting it in line with the crossmember.
For the small amount it would need to lean, I don't think it would upset anything.

Like Rick says - they need to be braced straight across, not via the angle tubes. The way that's set up, the shocks can push in (rotating the rest of the tubing).

I'd also cap the mounts instead of just a pair of ears. - or at least have some sort of tab that ties the mounts to the tubing.

Another thing would be to put the mounts in line with the shock body (rotate them around the tubing so they'd be underneath it), not out like they are. That setup can allow for the mounts to tear out from the torque load it puts on the tubing it's attached to.

Picky stuff, but would be an improvement in the design for nothing more than strength and/or lessening some of the stress forces the present setup will see.

Like I said earlier, the plans may be a great base to start with and then tweak as you go along.

-------------
quick addition - if you were to move the shock's upper mount forward so that it was in line with the cross brace, there's a vertical brace - instead of rotating the shock mounts down and under the tube, I'd make a mount that uses the vertical tubing as the main attachment point. Still making sure that the tabs were either boxed in or triangulated/braced.

Gotcha, thanks for the help.

I think you should get the plans and then let MBN help you redesign it so it's up to potential!
