I wonder if any one knows of a strain gauge kit that hooks up to a lap top maybee, doing that you could add a brace or gusset before it became a problem.

I am one of the few here who believes that gussets are a problem and not a cure.

I don't understand how a gusset is a problem. A bandaid for a poor design maybe?

I see gussets on most everything but I recall some stuff I saw that said a poorly designed/placed gusset can actually cause more stress issues that it solves.

So anyone here have any leads on "Good gusseting 101" Or maybe "How to avoid Gussets 101"?

Maybe show some good and bad examples and why?

This gussetting discussion really should be in a thread of its' own. Maybe someone would split this out so it can be where it could be found by lurkers/researchers doing a search more easily.

I could begin to understand if you fully welded around the gusset, that could cause a lot of stress around the joint.

Take a look at the sides of a pilot frame. Those middle tubes are touching nothing but top and bottom frame rails. Oh yeah AND THEY ARE BENT from the factory!

If I missed something there please correct me! Bill
Is this how the side of a pilot should look?(B)
(A) is how the pilot is built.
Maybe I should send the picture to honda's R and D department to show them where they are going wrong LOL.
