Trying to keep things in perspective here we need to always consider all factors when deciding on tube sizes/wall thicknesses/alloy. Large/fast cars call for larger tubing or more extensive triangulation.Smaller/slower cars lend themselves to smaller tube and/or less triangulation. It's always a balancing act. Then we have to decide if we want parts such as suspension/wheels/tie rods or whatever to be sacrificial(energy dissipating) in the interest of safety when running flat out while racing in the event of a mishap. OR if we want things like suspension components to stay attached in the event of a mishap so we can "get back home" without walking. As ALWAYS there is no one single correct answer. It ALWAYS depends on many factors.

IF a honda pilot is made of .058, the design will be stronger on a single seater with a smaller cage over a 2 seater. The 2 seater built outa .060 has a lot more tubing covering bigger distances for the roof, and isn't as braced as a smaller pilot cage, with support tubes a lot closer together. I don't care how smart you think this guy is, anyone with even basic knowledge of offroad vehicles would never build a complete roll cage outa .060 wall tubing, not even your un educated self has, or ever will do such a thing. And don't even act like you understand anything about what I do in my designs. My frame and suspension is designed to hold up to a lot of abuse, but I run all mild steal heims with quite a few threads showing as my give point, that way if something breaks, I can screw in a new set of heims or change my wheels, not have to build new chassis components. As a matter of fact, not only are YOU the last person that should be giving safety advice, your the last person to give advice period since you don't know what your talking about, because "for the record", Chromo is only 25 percent stronger than DOM, and HERW is not 75 percent weaker than chromo, do some research before you start stating "facts"... and again Dale, I really don't mean any disrespect to you on the build of your first buggy. It's really hard for me to sit and argue with bug about using .060 tubing for a complete roll cage without sounding like i'm bashing you and i'm not. I know it's your first build and you thought that material would be fine, but i'm sure if you build another rail, you will go with a lot thicker tubing, because even if you don't think i'm correct, you will more than likely do some research on it now and see that no offroad builder would ever build a rail like that with .060 tubing as it's really not safe, or maybe you will at least rebuild your roof outa thicker tubing since I (the bug appointed know it all) mentioned it and maybe it could keep you from getting hurt. I'm sure you would rather I mentioned it to give you something to think about, then not say anything at all and watch you get hurt when your roof collapsed, i'd rather look like a know it all than not say anything at all when it comes to someones safety. I gave my opinion, it's out of my hands what you do or don't do with the info....
