How many out there have experience with the Kam Lock latches? I'm curious if they work well in the dirt/mud/sand. I saw above that Drak uses them. Do many others?

I switched back to a regular latch style lock on my stadium lite - the steering wheel was rubbing against the cam lock and unlocking my belts.

They're (cam locs) nice because you can put your belts on w/o having to loosen everything as much as you do with a regular setup.

There are a lot of racing bodies that won't allow a cam loc. If you plan on racing, go with a regular style latch and avoid something that might be an issue in tech.

What is the issue with the racing bodies? They usually have a good reason and it has to do with safety. Even though I don't plan to race, I'd like to avoid a safety issue when possible.

I assume that you didn't have problems with the cam lock binding up due to dirt?

The older cam locs are supposedly notorious for not liking to play in the dirt. Newer stuff? No clue. I only have experience with Team Tech's stuff and it doesn't suffer from it (thus far.)

My old Team Tech cam loc setup survived many hours of dirt, sand and our last race in the old car was a mudfest, but we never had any issues.

I want to say that Simpson had a really bad rap in the dirt, but I'm not positive of that comment. I am sure that there was one brand that was a problem child in the dirt - and I believe it was Simpson.

That's probably true but I have caught the latch with arm restraints and come unlatched during a run.Not a nice feeling.I will always use camlocks unless forced to do differently.

I've got both kinds, camlock and the leverlatch...If i don't blow the camlock out every time I get it dusty/muddy the next time I go to strap in it gives me problems...the lever latch gives me problems because of the shot tendons in my arms but In my opinion....They are straight foreward, reliable...and IDIOT proof...

Arrange for passengers with, shall we say larger “assets,” and the benefits of the latch and sub belt quickly become apparent.
