Default LT2 Frame from Girard Fabrication

Hi,
I am getting ready to start my first rail build. I am interested in the LT2 frame from Girard Fab (ProsandMiniRailFrames). Does anyone have any experience with this frame or has anyone seen a completed one. I am wanting to order the plans but would like input about it first. I am going to be using it at the dunes only for me and my wife to ride around in. We currently ride quads and would like to have both. Any information will be appreciated.
Thanks

there pretty basic plans, not extremly well put together, but you could build from them, i purchased the plans myself although i did not build the car, rorty also has some 2 seat plans there a bit more money but take it from me"i cut up and salvaged my first frame" you will have plans that detail everypiece on the car. i just purchased the r6 plans for a single seater, the 2 seater bases the bottom from square tube for the ease of the novice builder to get started.

check it out before you make any big decisons, you may save money in the long run!

You may want to condsider buying the frame from him....he will help you out anyway he can.....and if you do not have a good tubing bender, it makes it more difficult......he sells them only tack welded, so you still get to reassemble it yourself after shipping,,,,,prices are very reasonable in my opinion.....give him a call............I bought 2 SS2 frames and am very happy.........good luck....

2lcf,
Why did you choose the SS2 over the LT2 frame? I like the looks of both frames, the SS2 seem to be the most popular but the LT2 looks like it would be easier to get more suspension travel.

bugpac,
I looked at the Rorty R82 2 seater, I would have no problem spending the extra money for the better plans. It seems to be a bigger frame and it looks more like a competition buggy, I also do not like the square tubing. With your experience of the Rorty plans could I modify the 2 seater to be more like the pro mini sand rail frames(more of a dune looking frame).
Thanks

you probbaly would be better of not buying the rortys if you plan to modify,i know that you could easily figure out the square to round tube conversion, but if you want a more dune like frame, i really cant offer any suggestions, i have heard yoshi talk about the short sand car frames not seeming to be very structural, and the lt2 is very similar, besides that i really cant offer any more suggestions.

and i also heard that the prosandbox plans were not very easily to build and the detail was not very understanadable.
the lt2 plans may be the way to go, from my expierience i wish i still had the thirty bucks tho.

Coolhuh,
We decided on the SS2 because it was alittle wider in the front.....the LT2 frames are nice....we are going for more of a dual sport type buggy....some dunes and some desert. We will still get about 12 inches of travel out of the front and about 14 rear....we don't plan on doing major jumps or 110+ mph through the desert.....they will cruisers that my kids can drive tooo......the next ones we build will be long travel and probably single seaters for my kids......I am not sure what tools you have available, but make sure you have a good tubing bender with degree indicator.......that will be the biggest problem you may have if you are building off of plans.......at least with round tubing.....but you can do like Yoshi and use round tubing with mitered corners, not bends....his look awsome and strong. GOOD LUCK and post some pictures when you get going........

consider buying his tacked kit and have it shipped, if you dont have a bender, his price is very reasonable buy the time you buy tube and the plans, your 3/4 way there.

i can alsmot guarantee you he is not putting much over a 100 bucks in his pocket building the frames. shippng is quite costly but depends on were you live.

and yoshi does bend some of his tubing , he just apts for the mitered corners to get that evil style and look.

I know Yoshi does bend some of his round tubing........I was just trying to give COOLHUH some other ideas....and Yoshi's do have that evil look......I agree with you on the tacked frames.....we bought 2 frames from Allen.......pro mini frames ,,,,,,and are really happy on how they went back together....the shipping was as much as the 2 frames, but that was to the far West Coast.......sunny SO CAL................

im in michigan and when i got a quote, i think it was 275.00 for shipping and that was all the tacks cut and frame laid flat, i got a quote from short sand cars for a welded kit and it was 600.00 to ship, i asked them if they could cut the tacks and ship flat but i guess my money wasnt good enuff for them they elected not to return the phone call.im kinda glad they didnt i may have wound up with a expensive piece that i would not be happy with.
