Know the front suspension is not the best.

Default Piranha Plans

I am almost done with my Piranha. I'm probably into it by $ 5k, but some of that is tooling. I can build the next one in the the 3K range or less. My first one has alot of extra stuff that is not absolutey neccessary.

No, the front suspension design is not the best, but OK for certain dirt riding, and has some good points to it. But the longer-tavel designs like what yoshi and others are designing are the way to go.

I reviewed the panther and piranha plans, and decided the piranha was more detailed for the 1st time fabricator. And this buggy design looks good to boot. I hear from others that it handles excellent. The plans call for 10 inches of travel, but it's more like 8.5-9. You won't be dissapointed with either the piranha or panther.

It's taken 2 years to finish this. Take a look:

I hope to design my next creation by myself, taking pointer and hints from yoshi's design and helpful inputs already posted in this forum.

Mike, what sort of rims are on the back, and where did you get them from?

Thanks

Default RearRims

Those are Douglass red labels front and rear.
I bought them from Rick S. used.
I bought the fronts new, from Magic Racing in Utica, MI.

Can't remember the sizes offhand...

I have never had a plan that I didnt modify ,arent the desert karts useing 1" keyed shaft in the rear for the center carrier,I believe its running 8" in the rear for travel, these are the points I dont like ,could easily be changed, its quite easy to change the front end a bit on the pirannha as well to add dual arms, the badland buggies and desert kart seem like go kart designs to me ,remember plans are just a guide,I have heard some negative things about customer service with desertkarts I would avoid them cause of that, there are so many parts sources out there I hate dealing with people that are on and off with customer service there are people that take it serious all the time, off topic but I m still waiting for an engine that was payed for 4weeks ago from a "reputable" business on ebay I believe it will get here but talk about a frustrating hairpulling experience ,and I have read about the same kind of thing from desertkarts

i like the piranha myself, but i dont like the square tube sides or the very pointy nose. besides that its ok in my book. and like the dirtbag said, i know i cant build nothing to plans, i will always change something. 8)
