My best guess based on input from others that have built what I am leaning toward is $5K total. That sounds reasonable to me and the WTMBO would probably not freak out too bad, especially if it isn't spent all at once.
5k? lemme know how that works out for ya, lol.....

Yeah, I hear you. I PM'd a guy here about the Barracuda he built and that was about what he estimated that he had into it. Again, I really don't plan on racing so I don't need to go full tilt and get top shelf uber-fast parts. I just want to get in the desert and throw a roost. If I bust that budget in the long run then that is the nature of having hobbies, right?

yeah, but it's better to go over budget because the car is better than what you initially wanted, not because you scrapped 3 chassis and replaced a bunch of cheap parts with good parts, lol. I've had people buy a frame kit from me that spent more first trying to build one them self.

Man! That Yoshi dude is cruel! Honest, brutal and cruel!

It might be possible to build the car for 5k and will require innovation and compromise. In the end it will cost more because it just does.

someone here is building a car in that range. He's secretive. Wait for it . . .

The guy who built this machine (Honda CBR1000 engine) I do not know what he gave for the engine. Told me he had around $6300-$6500 in it but a lot of time.

He took me fore spin in it and it was pretty nice in the whoops even. The shocks needed a lil adjusting but all in all it was a DAM nice buggy for the price.

All his own design. They studied up on designs and came up with it. No reverse just a geardown case in the back.

Oh thats his cash layout. Not his time too :]

I know he won't sell it for THAT much.

Personaly I think on a Budget its hard to beat a Panther build for a nice kart.

My time is the cheapest part of the equation. I got plenty and it typically goes for too damn cheap when I give it up to someone else's endeavors. Anyway, like I said before, if I go over budget down the road then so be it. That is what hobbies are all about. Right now, I have $2K to start with. I'm hoping I can use it to and build all the way to a rolling chassis. If not then it will cost more. Plain and simple. Thanks again for all the feedback. I appreciate it.
