Default 4130 welded to Steel

Ok all,
Getting ready to get my plate steel cut. From a previous post I am building a ST4. Going to have all tube both square and round 4130. Should I also buy 4130 for motor mounts shock towers or is normal plate steel OK. Can I weld these two steels together?
Thanks,
Tim

You can weld 4130 to mild steel just fine. However mild steel plate is weaker than 4130. I used 4130 plate to make all the plate parts for my buggy just to keep things consistent. Also I hate using really crappy A36 plate for anything it does not weld nicely and is really weak.

4130 and mild work well together, "cold rolled" mild steel plate is the cleanest to work with and cheap for the non-structure stuff.
