I was looking into maybe the dk plans or the rorty plans but I was wondering if they are pretty in depth, do they just give you basic ideas or does it have measurements and how to make a-arms etc?

Dk plans are good, but do leave a lot to the imagination.
Rorty plans might have the most detail from what I've heard. I will pickup 2-3 more sets of plans before my next build as spending money on good plans will save you tons in scrap metal later. |

Rorty plans are VERY detailed! With the drawings he sends you, you can make every part if you want to. If you have access to a water-jet, or laser cutter you can program the parts, and cut them yourself. There is a member on this site "Kludge" who can cut everything you need (plate steel, and machined parts). Rortys plans even include drawings to make jigs to make the control arms. You can't go wrong with his plans! There is a couple of full builds in the projects section using his plans. Check out standfast's R-16 build, I have referenced that thread ALOT in the planning of my build. Good luck in your decision.

I have glimpsed one of the Rorties plans and as mentioned he will steer you well. He covers the parts very good. Offers support after the sale to plan buyers thats golden if you have any issues.
I also have Buggy Innovations plans here. I bought them JUST to see what they looked like. Very in detail as well. I have not called them with questions nor have I heard of anyone doing so not sure if they would provide good support. Cannot say good or bad about that on them. Buggyinnovations Mini buggy plans parts and kit sets I also have the Desert Kart Panther Plans. Personnaly I LIKE these better than most others. The plans are simple and easy to follow. MANY peoples first karts have been Panthers and built without to many hitches. Greg at Desert Karts I have heard was having some trouble answering questions and getting parts out the door but I heard he was having some issues in life that were taking him away from the buggies. That siad there is nothing on the Panther you cannot build yourself with a little skills and a small metal lathe. (and a notcher and a bender of course) Heres my catch on the panther. The plans lend themselves to a mild 35 or less horse motor. The rear drive setup as the plans go about it are single keyways on shafts. NOW that I have said that I HAVE seen and rode in a Panther built to he plans with a 100 horsepower sled motor and let me tell you it would flat out go. Heres the good part. Its EASY to simply NOT make the drivetrain parts like the plans show and substitue VW car shafts off an IRS car. This gives you a rear end that will handle pretty much anything you can stuff in it. The VW parts will likely cost you LESS than the raw material to make the parts per plans. If you want to mod the car for longer travel you will pay a bit more for larger flanged axles of course. The front end is good but can be made better and stronger REALLY easy if you plan to bump the power up. Point is lotsa people have built Panthers and really liked them. Plans are easy to follow and alter things that need be. I saw little in the plans that was not easy to follow. They simply are not more complicated than they could be IMO. I hear nearly everyone who has made a Rorty buggy likes it a lot. I do not know of a person who has built a Buggy Innovations unit yet. Lotsa happy Panther drivers out there. Flip a three sided coin? Oh Yeah edge buggies. (need a four sided coin now!) I have seen Phiranas and drove a VERY nice Barracuda (Thankee Doug Hiem). Very nice car indeed and if you go with one of these cars there are guys on this site who can help you fix the few little gremlins that haunt the plans and make the cars sweet. I have NOT seen the plans for these in person. Thinking about buying them. Done right they are nice.

first let me say that the only plans that I have are the Buggy Innovations ones, however as nutz said they are very detailed, giving precise diagrams of each tube. However as he also said nobody here has built one, or for that matter at any of the forms that I looked at. I can't speak for other buggy plans, though with the panther, r82, and edge stuff lots of people have built them so help would be a click away
