This is the gen 1 doubledown chassis... I have a turbo r1 motor for a build and im trying to just find a frame similar to this look. Im looking for around 20'' of travel all the way around. I want to redo the trailing arms because they look kinda weak and with about 300 hps I plan on jumping this bad boy pretty far. does anyone know where I could find a chassis like this or any good builders that could handle making this?

My frame kits (with a-arms, trailing arms, control rods and subframe) start off at $6,649, fully welded for all seat, motor, and suspension mounts minus misc tabs like gas tank, radiator, lights, etc........ Additional options at the left side of the page here Sinister Sand Sports - Sand Rails and Buggy's SPECS Basic specs are about 88" wide with 31" paddles, 105" wheelbase, 20"+ wheel travel, and around 1100 pounds with a busa powerplant standard. I'll also be offering an identical wing to the one pictured below, just with 14" taken out of the center section. The sides of the SR1 and SR2 are identical, so the side panels pictured on the SR1 are actually ones I have here for an SR2, and are identical. I actually built the sides and back in the SR2 jig, just took 14" outta the center tubes, then built a new front end to get the wheelbase down a little bit.
The current prototype SR1 i'm building will have the same wheels and tires pictured below, as well as power steering, custom alternator package, reverse box, 240 hp built busa motor, and some other goodies..... The production version of the SR1 will also be built outta 1.5" tubing.... Last edited by yoshi; 09-05-2009 at 01:22 PM. |

Hopping to have it in roller form in the next week or 2, then i'm gonna convert all the numbers to 1.5" tubing, then build a fixture for them. I have a guy wanting 2 right now, as well as someone else interested in one, so i'm trying to make progress as fast as I can on it.

yoshi,
is there any possibility to tst drive a car? I feel a little sketch on the amount of power these cars have even with a busa motor. I do have a turbo kit but I dont know if its worth building it if there is a better alternative such as a 2.5l vtec or subaru 2.0 turbo? With stock internals I wont be able to run a ton of boost and be reliable. |

Sketchy on the amount of power huh, I guess you've never driven a busa rail before, lol. I would put a stock motor in this thing, but I have a built one laying around I took in on trade that's just collecting dust in the corner, but a stock motor in this thing would scare the hell outta you. My stock 2 seater is already wicked fast, and with occupants, it's over 800 pounds heavier than the singe seater with a driver, plus it has a built motor putting out almost 60 mot hp of mid and low torque, you ain't gonna touch the kinda feel with a vtec or subi, trust me....
