#1: are there any differences from the Panther ATK and the Pantera Superlite?

#2: do they sell plans for both?

#3: anyone have dimensions for the Desertkart buggies?

#4: how are their plans as far as detail go? If I've got some general fab skills, a shop full of tools, welder, bender and a friend who is a FANTASTIC welder and fabricator will I be okay?

I'm asking these ?'s because I've sent several requests to the guys at desertkart and haven't received an answer.

I've finally got it narrowed down between a desertkart frame (going to make it into a two seater) or one of Tut Tech's MK2 frames.

I'm ordering 85' of 1.25" .095 (not sure how much needs to be DOM) and 20' of 1.25" 14g square tubing. Thanks, hoping to get it ordered today or tomorrow depending on when I get an answer.

Well, I purchased the Barracuda in PDF form tonight, but it didn't download (hopefully they are working on that now).

Tony, from The Edge, says the plans call for a 3.5" CLR and 1.5" 1/8" wall minimum on the chassis. The problem is neither JD2 or protools offers a die with 3.5"CLR for 1.5" tubing. The biggest tubing size that has 3.5" CLR is 1.25" and he says 1.25" is too small for the chassis.

Pirate 4x4 has a lot of good technical articles and found the bending articles to be very informative so I thought it would be a good idea to post a link for the new guys. It is related to fabricating a roll bar, but the principles are the same.

Hi, I'm new to posting but have lurked for a while and have to say it's awesome:D now I want to make a real roll cage for my golf cart and have no idea how to make it straight/congruent. I have access to a MIG welder, and a tubing bender. I'd like to know how to make it all straight, my use will mostly be barrel role protection because the golf cart likes to try and flip when I'm doing 20mph slides.(and not doing those isn't an option![smilie=ecstatic.gi:) so basicly, how do I make it straight? lots of measuring? and which way should the main hoops go front to back or side to side? will a MIG sufice? I'd love to build a buggy but seeing I'm already perplexed I believe I need to start real easy ,thank

I am building my kids a little buggy, and I am using all the suspension parts off of a yamaha blaster, I have however run into a little snag about where I should place the engine. I was initially going to place the engine to the right of the drive like the Edge Sidewinder, however I think that is kinda hokey. So my plan is now to build a cradle to place the engine in above the swingarm and run a drive chain forward to a jack shaft and then run that back to the drive sprocket. However I am also thinking of just putting the motor on the swingarm and calling it good, what do you guys think. I dont really want to do the first or the last, however I am not sure on how well the forward drive chain will work. Tell me what you think. I know someone is going to say go with independant rear, I would like too, however this is my first build and the funds for the build are very very small so I dont want this project to turn into a several years long thing.

I am planning on mostly high desert off-roading in central New Mexico including hi speed sand washes, hill climbs, and maybe the occasional woop section. I don't plan on racing. Atleast not for now. Just looking for more of a hobby. I would like to build it myself. I'm undecided on an engine, but would like to have at least 600cc from a streetbike or better depending on the price. Im very interested in building a truggy / trophy kart with a bike engine in it say round 400 to 600cc engine.

I downloaded the plans for a truggy over here: Mini Truggy Digital Download Plans [32558] - $69.95 : Long Travel Plans, Digital Download Long travle Plans
Has anyone got any other places that have got better plans or lots of photos of the frame and that.

I like this 1 and emailed them about it but didnt get much info from them apart from they used the plans i got and they just changed parts of it. Link: Chatsworth, California, Trailer, service, repair, custom, parts

I know this doesn't particularly belong in this section of the forum, but I didn't see a bodywork section. . .and this section is closer than any of the other sections.

What do you guys think. . .Polyethylene vs. Polycarbonate (lexan), and if PE then HDPE vs. UHMWPE.

Lexan is about twice as expensive per sheet as HDPE and UHMWPE is about 3.5 times as expensive as HDPE.

I'm not talking super flimsy stuff here. . .lexan, the stuff used around hockey rinks and HDPE is used in animal enclosures (of all sizes and weights). . .and the UHMWPE I think would be overkill for bodywork.

Looking at 1/16" thick material in 4' x 8' sheets.

Thanks!
