So, I'm sure some of this has been covered in the 440 thread, but here's my take on the weekend events. We had an Ody, a Blaster, the 750 and jays 440. The ody wouldn't idle, so that spent the day in the lot.
Jay got a nice 45 minute ride in. His buggy did well. We all learned a lot about sand real fast. I can see the appeal, although, I still like trails and mud more. I had no breaks, but screw it, I wasn't sitting in the lot. They wouldn't bleed (swear all the air is out, but won't build pressure).
So we head out, very first thing is test hill. Supposed to be the big test of if you can handle the dunes. I don't know why, it was pretty easy. Mine went right up the first try. Now, having no breaks, coming down was interesting. Backwards, in a buggy with no mirrors, reverse or breaks. But none the less, fun. We played around for a while, went down by the water to meet up with our group, then decided to hit the lot for lunch and some gas.
Well, thats where it all goes wrong. We leave the lot, and jay is first through the check point out to the dunes. Our friend mike was riding the blaster, he's next through, but they decide to inspect the quad, so he's held up. Next is me, they just wave me through. So mike and I are taking the long road out to the play area, as we come around a 90 degree bend, we see jay crawling out from under his buggy. Thats never good.
His arm was pretty gross. And he's snapped a couple 4x4 posts right in half. His buggy held up very well. The DNR agent who nearly hit him had left some lovely skid marks in the sand. This is a one way trail, so there was no reason for this guy to come up the wrong way. Even if he wanted to set up a speed trap, he could have come down the correct way and parked around the corner.
So jay was a trooper, he choose to sit in the lot for the next 4 or 5 hours while we played. His buggy actually drove out of the dunes! So I guess no more parking lot jokes.................maybe
