If the axles are the proper length, why would you need a clip to keep them from mushrooming the ends? It shouldn't be long enough to put pressure on the ends right?

If you use a custom stub axle it will. Now whether it fits inside a chevy outer CV is another question. Custom stub axles are quite pricy. Fitting it into a stock outer CV is the idea of this thread because it eliminates all that cost in favor of off the shelf components.

I misread the questinon as well, 930 stubs do not fit s-10 axles, unless you buy the micros stubs,"cant remebr who sells them" some guys sell the 27 spline, but most are 33 spline like dans sells etc....

The 33 spline Chevy 1500? CV's are the same as 934CV's. The 2500? 35 spline are the same as a 934.5CV.

we never did figure it out entirely, it seems like the 1500 was 31 spline, cant rember now, seems like 3/4 ton chevy was the 33, but they have 6 lugs....Not the 5 on 4.75 that everyone sells...we came to the end conclusion empi had there stubs made and there bearing assemblys custom made for the sake of monopoly...
