Thumpcraft-I don't have a final price yet but let's just say "not cheap". Please keep in mind that I doubt anyone running a smaller buggy will want this box I'd say the 200 HP and above with weights over 1500#'s crowd is who will get interested in it.Hopefully that is. * * * * * * * * * * * * * Bdkw1-currently it will only be available in 5.35:1 and 5.85:1.If the project pans out there will be others as demand could call for. * Rowy--thanks but I'd call it about a mid-term baby at this point.Still a ways to go yet. *

Largest plug nearing ready to use.If I've learned anything in the last few months it is a new appreciation of the talent that goes into our modern world. What has become even more appreciated is the genious that was behind the industrial age. It really boggles the mind.

Are you going to add a fillet where the sharp edges are around the case? It would also help with casting I would think. Less chance of a void with a nice fillet rather than that sharp edge. Just an idea that you might already have thought out.

THe plug is just out of the vmc. There are filets *and buttresses galore that are being done now.The patternmakers I am using prefer to add the filets with bondo rther than machining them in.Don't ask me why but I trust there techniques since all the foundries around here have a high regard for their work. These guys are doing me quite a favor in doing these since they are always busy with the constant demand for them. They are working these in for me.I'll be posting more about it in the weeks coming as it progresses from wood plugs to finished casting. Then the complete unit will be logged also. The first 2 units will be for me for initial testing.I am building 5 of them and may consider a "cooperative" effort of R&D with the right party/parties.This is an extension of the silent chain jackshaft drive I had on the BBQ buggy.Same chain type/size and sprockets as before but "refined". LOL!!!!

Rowy,I don't recall the weight or size of your buggy.I will be looking for someone/ones with a buggy of at least 1500#'s loaded and 160+ HP(hopefully 200+). I want to be able to confidently say I have a durable and reliable tranny before I offer it for sale.Rowy, you are one of many here that I respect the opinion of.Thank you for the offer.

1108 pounds dry, no driver so probably 1350 to 1400 pounds all loaded. *I forget what hp the CBR 1000rr puts up. *I have a turbo for it but didn't plan to install it until next year so it'd start out just stock.

The unit takes up approximately the same area as a jeffco but is approx 6" taller. The primary chain is also a silent type that is enclosed oil bath.1" primary and 3" secondary width. Planetary is oversize but was done to save total cost of unit. When it comes time(later on) I'll say why.I have also incorporated a cushion drive into the unit to minimize shock loading of the bike tranny with the intention of helping save it or at least prolonging it's life.Unlike a CVT a bike box takes a rather severe beating through the whoops and jumping.Busas use a cushion drive in their rear wheel to soften impacts to the chain so why not me to soften impacts to the geartrain?LOL!!!!! *

When and only when they are proven durable and reliable.I will be the guinea pig for 2 units and hopefully 3 others will want to enter into a R&D cooperative agreement to help it progress quicker.
