Any ideas on a sprocket size to use with a raptor motor? I'm inquiring for a friend. He has a prosand box frame and is useing a raptor 660 motor because it has reverse. He wants to get the most speed out of it while keeping it easy to take off and cruise around camp without slipping the clutch.Help please...Tire size has not been chosen yet so if you give an opinion please tell what tire size you would use as well. Thanks in advance.

well stock raptor is about 40 i think, with 20" tires, 22's drag it down...I would say since your doubling the weight, and unless you run 20" tires, you will likely be looking at around a 70 tooth rear, I wouldnt expect to see the raptor push a buggy over about 55 mph....

My uncles raptor did 81 before it hit the rev limiter in last gear (this was with the wind at sand lake), so if you want it to hit 55, with the same 20 inch tires, I'd say a 65 tooth sprocket. A 60 would be reasonable too. You could always gear the front down. I think it uses a 15 tooth front, so if you went to 13, you could drop the rear to a 52-55. With 22's, I'd go a 13 front and 60 rear.

It's got a pipe and suspension upgrade. Like i said, this was with the wind at sand lake, (on the beach, sand was wet) and it was blowing pretty good that day. It'll hit maybe 70 on its own.
