Default GSXR Engine drivetrain, will it last in a buggy

I am building my 2 seat buggy and am researching powerplants. *My plan is a GSXR engine after 2001 with fuel injection. *My question is, what if anything needs to be done to the clutch and or trans to make it last in a buggy. *I have seen stock clutches go out on brand new GSXR bikes let alone a GSXR engine with 3 times the weight. *

My engine will probably be 750 or 1000cc.

I've never heard of a problem with the buggies. They are lower geared, so they don't strain the motor as much as you think. I believe that anything after 2001 has a better trans, so no worries there.

I used a '99 750 in my golfcart, it worked great! 'racer is right...you are looking at being 6-1 or deeper in the rear gearing, so no prob (or much less chance of a prob) with the engine in a buggy.

If you want to fortify your tranny have the gears back cut, cyro treated and install a larger diameter output shaft. These are typical drag race prep steps.

Plenty of cars use the engine box stock and are just fine. That's a good way to start.

I agree, just gear it proper, and a clutch upgrade wouldnt hurt by any means...

The only problem i have heard about with the clutch is the mastercylender pushing the slavecylender to far and sticking or worse.Have a helper slowly push pedal and check clutch release/ travel( after buggy,s built)

Make sure you run an oil cooler. *

I just saw a show on the history channel tonight about the Walt Disney World
"Light, Sounds, Action" set where they run those little cars on busa 1300's. *They have the special-made transmissions with 4 speeds foward and 4 speeds in reverse. *The cars are modified Opels, stripped down to about 1,000 lbs with the motor being 154 HP. *

They made a loud and clear point of having to use an oil cooler behind the radiator to make sure the clutches last.
They replace their tires every 2 or 3 shows. *Didn't say anything about the gearing, probably decent enough ratio's to keep the stress off of the engine gears?

The extra deep gearing is the key. Add HD clutch springs and go beat her up. Have fun!
