I will have to find it but there is a guy at Silver Lake with a Powerglide automatic and it bolts right to a late 80's (I think) corvette rear end with an adaptor. Makes for a stout rear end with no manual shifting. Its not real long either due to the short powerglide.

A two speed though? Probably would be okay if you weren't doing much over 70, or didn't mind compromised acceleration, but I guess with enough power... be similar to a drag car.

Being its a powerglide an hooks up to a chevy V8 a two speed is really all you would need.

Heck the one here at Silver Lake is connected in the front (With another adaptor) to a Ford 2.3 with a turbo and some Esslinger go fast stuff on it. But its a cool long travel custom job. (I did not have my camera that day or there would be pics) Its does very well.

You seldom do over 70 off road with a typical play buggy. A powerglided dragger can get in the 130 MPH range and more. SO in a compromise you could have a V-8 fun engine you dd not push quite as hard as a true drag racer with auto shifting that would touch 90 IF you wished to. And still come out of the hole like a scalded pup.

I guess a lot depends on the torque converter too.

You can direct spline a Power Glide with a shortened shaft to a Ford 9" with off the shelf parts. My brother has narrowed several and I have looked at narrowing one so it was just the carrier and flanges to mount 930 CVs to.

Live do you know where/what these parts are and can be gotten?

I would like to research and see if the newer Ford independant rears are even close to compatible. Thanx Bill

I Googled a bit and found some parts listed here: WELCOME TO RACE TECH

They are listed as Strange. It looks like you have to buy a different coupler for the rear end based on the input splines. It would not surprise me if one of those spline counts matches up with a say 8.8 IRS pinion.
