Hello guys i am a new to MBN and have a question. I just bought a jeffco dif and set it in my rail and noticed that i have to offset my motor to line up the sprockets . My hayabusa motor is sitting dead in the middle of my frame and know i need to off set it about 1" to the drivers side to get my axels the same lenth and line up the chain. I have read all the posts that i can find on this. I know that the jeffco was built for the busa motor what can i do to keep my motor in the center? or is everybodies motor off set to the drivers side. This is also with the sprocket slide all the way in.

Stand's nailed it. A small offset won't make any difference in an off road car.

26" axels.
I just thought that if a rear end was made for a motor it would be made to keep the motor center in the car. It just kind of suprized me. My RPM rear end was dead on center with the motor. How do you figure only 1/2 i have to line the motor to the rear end and that space is 1" ? I will would have to give a 1/2 with the rear end right ? How far of a offset makes a difference? The problem that i see is all my weight is on the drivers side. Last edited by brycter; 08-18-2009 at 04:41 AM. Reason: add to |

I don't think it was made for the 'Busa specifically. I think case width is determined by internal components.
Even if you balance the car with components to offset the driver it will be out of whack with a passenger. Unless you are building a single seat car there will be weight bias in some way. |

The Jeffco unit is suppose to line up dead center I believe, but I think it's dead center for the weight balance, which means the center of the motor may not be the center for the balance point if that makes sense. If you are dead set on leaving the motor where it's at, you can get an off center motor sprocket like the drag racers use for wider tires to make up the 1" difference, just make sure you support the motors output shaft with a bearing to help with the additional leverage.... |
