A few things I learned about cooling:
Fans that are used to push air are only good for cooling circuits that have no direct obstructions directly in front of them. *Otherwise you create eddy currents in the air flow, lowering the CFM and reducing effective thermal transfer. With obstructions (i.e. radiators or the other term: "air-to-water heat exchangers") or sharp bends in duct work, you want the fan to pull air. *Air being pulled can easily come from any direction. The fan blades should also sit properly in the venturi, or you reduce the air flow. A fan blower working well will run with a noticable drag. *Obstructions or poor positioning will make the fan spin faster than normal becuase the blades are not cutting and moving the air effectively. |

Something to think about are the universal fans that can be run CW or CCW by reversing the polarity.Due to the fan blades airfoil design a lot of those have different cfm ratings for CW /CCW .Sorry I don't have the info in front of me but I found that to be the case when researching this a while back.There are also a number of them that have same cfm ratings for either CWor CCW.Never hurts to check the details for the particular one you're looking at.

Just because there is a short clip of something hitting the rider doesn't show a piston going through an arm.Would have been much more likely some other shrapnel.Further it in no way whatsoever shows a piston going thru an arm.Try a little harder. *[smilie=thumbs_down.gif]

your kidding right, read the title and description? *Ok, i'll bite, your right, the piston didn't go through his arm, the video is wrong, explain to me what happened, and if it was some stray metal like you said, you think the piston didn't have anything to do with it? *No, better yet, i'll bite again, the piston never came outta the motor, something from that engine hit him, I don't care what, but something moving at a high rate of speed was launched through this guys arm, umm sorry, it "bumped" his arm, and caused him a lot of pain while blowing some parts out an onto the ground and made a fire flash. *Even with all that, is your engine mounted so that nothing can come out of the engine and hit the driver?.

You're assuming a lot.There is absolutely no evidence of a thing going THROUGH his arm.I saw first hand a clutch/flywheel explosion that broke the leg of a photographer at the 1974 summernationals in Tulsa.Yes I know that Don Garlits walks around on 1/2 of a foot from the same thing.So yes I know what CAN happen with the stored energy of a 35# flywheel with a 25# clutch assembly exploding at high rpm. But to claim a 250 GRAM piston went THROUGH an arm,after going through a head or block after breaking free from the crank-----Gimme a break.

Fine, I take it back, it didn't go through his arm, despite what the video says, there's no proof. *My point is that something came outta that motor and did bodily damage. *The details are irrilivant, my point was that you can get hurt by the motor, so if your so gun ho on safety, you should have like some 1/2" thick steel as a fire wall......
