Default oil cooler

Hey Guys, got a question. I have never added an oil cooler to a bike motor. I have an air cooled honda cb 500. Can a oil cooler be added and how? thanks Joe

Im not sure. You could probably add a fan to cool. The 350 ody's were air i think. Worked for them.

Some of the older bikes had a manifold to transfer oil between the block and the head (KZ's, GPZ's, GS's) They cut the ends off and put fittings on them to run lines through a cooler. Also if it has an external oil filter you can tap in there.

if it has an external oil filter, you can find adapter plates that screw in between the case and the oil filter to tap the flow for a cooler.

or look online and find a place to tap into the block. I know they show how to do it on a 400ex cause i was considering one. You'd run the oil through a cooler and then to the head, instead of through the cylinder, where the oil can become too hot and not effective at lubricating the head and valvetrain.

Can you point me to the/a link that shows how to do this? I will be running a modified 400ex motor in my buggy and I am interested in oil cooler options as well.
