My alternator is charging 14.4v but this problem has happened more than once. Got my battery on Ebay of course. They like a fully charged battery and they are too small for my load tester in the shop so the first time it happened it thought it was done.

Have you checked for a small battery drain? If not I can lead you through a test to find minute drains

Its doesnt act like its a small drain or anything causing an undercharging the system....the battery just shorts out and dies. The car would still run if not for the battery killing the electrical system. I did check the charging system and the car is putting out about 14.5 vdc while running and 13.5 at idle. And it also has a main battery disconnect that kills the entire system when not in use.

Also the odyssey I orginally had did work fine for four years but recently I have been hearing of alot of people having problems with them, so I dont know.

I've had trouble with Odysseys over time - but I haven't used them for a few years because of that.

My Odyssey shorted out duing my last trip in the middle of the dunes. Bought an Optima and car fired right up. After that though the engine turned over slowly.

I'm going to need some help troubleshooting - Jerry!

What are you using as a replacement to the odysseys? And what sort of trouble did you have with them?

I was talking with Chuck (C Moore) and he swears Odysseys are crap. He went through maybe 10 of them - all shorted internally.

How do you mean it turned over slowly?

After driving for a short time the battery just didn't spin the engine over quick enough for it to start. It was as though there was a crappy connection and that could be the problem.

The battery had 1,000 cranking amps earlier that day. Tom and I moved the battery to the front of the car. We used new gauge 4 cable but did do some splicing with butt connectors.

I need to buy test tools and get a lesson to see what's going on.

Im assuming you hooked it back up to the location the old battery was hooked to, I think it went to the starter relay....
If so bad connections could do it, also where did you ground the battery at?
And lastly how much #4 wire did you run? Total feet from battery to starter relay?

The old battery was between and behind the seats. Had to remove a skid plate, seats and firewarll to remove ths tupid thing because I built Rubicks effing cube.

So it went to the front of the car where my ice chest was located. Butt connected the wires and ran maybe 8 feet toward the front. From battery to relay, considering loops and such could be 12 feet.
