Default zzr1100D Spark problems

Hi all , great forum ye have here

Im currently building an edge piranha buggy powered by a zzr1100 96 motor

i have the engine and all of the loom wired in, the engine is turning over , BUT im not getting any spark at the plugs,
Do the ignition coils have to be grounded to the frame to get a decent spark? also i have wired in the clutch neutral and sidestand switch, any feedback would be much appreciated

also would a ground from the neg terminal of the battery to the frame appropriate?, the engine is grounded anyway

Cheers

Battery to frame and engine to frame should be sufficient - just make sure you use a proper sized wire and that there is no paint or any sort of insulating garbage (rust, oil, paint, etc.) anywhere near the connections to the frame.

Does the bike have a coded key? That may be an issue. There are anti-theft setups in a lot of the newer bikes and you may have an issue there.

kick stand, neutral switch, tip over sensor, clutch switch, oil level check switch, handle bar run/stop switch - all of those should be checked again to see if they are either bypassed or working correctly.
