Default rack & pinion

does anyone have any experience or opinion on the latest rage centerload rack? There are several different versions, and I was thinking one of the higher end ones may work good for my setup. I dont want to buy a piece of junk and have to buy anotherone. I saw moto one had a thread where he was having problems and i've pmed him over a week ago to see if it worked or not, but no answer, i'm sure he is busy. Thanks.

To be honest with you, Id would probably stick to Gear One, I dont think you'll have any problems with theirs, Ive had issuses with the ones from Lastest Rage. It just a guess but I would venture to say that the Latest Rage box is a Chinese rip off of the Gear One...just my 2 cents.

I used a latest rage center load rack and laser cut a bracket to locate my tie rods at the right spacing. that put a lot of load on the rack and it was kind of loose. I machined a bit off the top plate which tightened things up, but its still not great. If you had the money I'd buy something a bit nicer.

I dont have a great pick but here it is installed. My buggy steers from the rear of the front upright. the actual piece I bolted on to the steering box I made from .120" mild steel that was laser cut. here is also a pdf of the piece. the two holes close together bolt to the rack, with some small pieces of tube so the bolts dont crush it. the holes farther away are for the rack ends. you can see that the tie rods have a lot of leverage on the rack. this makes it very important to get a good rack. my rack was kind of sloppy so I had to machine some clearance out of it, I'm sure it will wear back in and I'll have to do it again. I would go with a better rack.
