G'Day Everyone,
This is my first full build from scratch, I had success with two previous builds but they were partly done.
I purchased a Barracuda chassis / frame with a CBR1000F fitted all mounted on a rotisserie.
A set of plans came with the frame which has the PIRCV plans as well, at this point in time not sure which of the Egde rear drive it will be or maybe MX5 lsd modified hatted diff centre.
I have been comparing Edge front & rear uprights as opposed to custom / ex Mazda MX5 or Miata ( depends on where in the world you are ).
Unsprung weight with the Mazda gear won't be an issue as I have no intentions of racing ( possible motokharna , short track rally or something ) nothing too serious.
My intention is to run 4 wheel disc set up with maybe with the mazda 4 x 100 stud pattern.
The MX5 CV / axle running gear seems pretty robust.
Any advice, criticism or help would be greatly appreciated.
cheers
Chris

We'd love to see what you can do with the Mazda gear. Some folks on the forum have come up with ideas that worked out really well and other users have "borrowed" it. That's what the forum is all about.

Hi DP2000, I hoping to use the Mx5 front uprights , hubs , rotors & calipers using the Edge Barracuda a arms & the Edge CV2 housing & cassette & a arms , getting the Mx5 axles / CV's to fit, also the Mx5 rear uprights , hubs, rotors & calipers. Hoping to make it more robust.
Will try to focus on the front end first, getting the set up correct Ackerman , bump steer etc, I once had a Chinese single seat buggy with an FZR 600 motor it went like a scalded cat in a straight line & steered like a shopping trolley. (trying to avoid that again ).
Have been watching lots of You Tube clips of Barracuda builds from all over the world, while I'm no Qualified Engineer or mechanic I have seen guys build Cuda with stick welders , hacksaws and a pair of multi grips, so I'm feeling pretty confident.
Will be sending some DX files off to the local Laser cutter next week to get the ball rolling.
All good here !
cheers
Chris
