Many chain driven cars have a bearing carrier with a sprocket on one side of the carrier and a disc brake on the other side of the carrier. Typically the carrier is a tube machined at either end to carry a bearing. A shaft passes through the bearing and the sprocket is on one side of the tube and the disc on the other side of the tube.
